I wear boots in the Indian Summer; you still want to walk in my shoes?

So IWD came & went and with that, the mandatory ‘you are so lucky’ comments. Sorry mates, it is bloody hard work even if you are intelligent & educated. What you call luck is years of making choices that were not easy and walking a path less trodden. The reason I say this is because one of my mentees urged me to not embellish the journey and the struggles. And that’s what I truly love about Gen Y; they face it head on.
What have you been up to is a question quite a few have asked? Some being polite but some genuinely intrigued. I was also admonished (yes, a handful of people do get away with that!) for not writing like I had promised I would. So let me start by saying, I have been writing, copious amounts actually, totally focused on the areas I saw a gap or observed something interesting. I will put it out there soon enough for the handful that care to read :)
The last year has been super fun at times and gut wrenchingly painful at others. Like a kid in a candy store, I went about evaluating over 45 companies in varied sectors - healthcare, biotechnology, education, virtual reality, sports, social enterprise et al! Now I have my shortlist of 10-12 that I think are worth supporting with my time & network. Of course, the list will keep changing but it feels good!!! Aside from that, consulting some established brands; coaching young leaders & developing my proprietary self-learning courses. Did someone say ‘you are so lucky’?
I shall paraphrase an old favourite – if you don’t know where you are going; any road will take you there! Stop hiding behind excuses and start designing the life you want. And if stuck; ping; happy to help.
